Roots, returned.
Lena's family is originally from the Merced area. After moving to Sacramento and staying on another family's farm, she spent that year learning alongside her uncle, a farmer who shared his trade with her day by day.
"I was able to get 20 years of farming experience in just the one year that I was living with him."
The family stayed in Sacramento from 2019 to 2020 before deciding to come back to the Central Valley. Lena says they did not expect to return, but Merced kept pulling them home. When they moved back, her mother dug up the vegetation from their Sacramento farm, loaded it into the vehicle, and replanted everything on their new land.
What survived stayed. What did not, they cleared. From there, Lena opened an Instagram page and began advertising bouquets made from what they were growing, turning family roots and farming skill into a flower business that feels deeply local.
